Jean-Christophe Norman, Brouhaha

Since the beginning of the 2010s, Jean-Christophe Norman has made text, books and literature his artistic material. He completely rewrote James Joyce's Ulysses on the face of the globe and in the form of a chalk line on the asphalt of the cities he passed through. From Tokyo to Paris, from Buenos Aires to New York, or from Phnom Penh to Palermo, Joyce's text has interfered in the rhythm of the world, in the heart of cities and in the hubbub of their inhabitants. For the monographic exhibition at the Frac Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (Regional collections of contemporary art ) in Marseille, Jean-Christophe Norman once again draws on the material of the book but placing it on the side of pictoriality, the landscape and the environment.
